杜鹃花属在我国分布广泛，除新疆和宁夏外，各省区均有分布。西藏东南部、四川西南部、云南西北部是最集中的产地，均分别占百种以上，仅云南的杜鹃花品种就占全国品种的一半以上。因生态环境不同，有各自的生活习性和形状。最小的植株只有几厘米高，呈垫状，贴地面生。
Rhododendron is widely distributed in China. It is distributed in all provinces except Xinjiang and Ningxia. Southeast Tibet, Southwest Sichuan and Northwest Yunnan are the most concentrated producing areas, accounting for more than 100 species respectively. Rhododendron varieties in Yunnan alone account for more than half of the national varieties. Due to different ecological environment, they have their own living habits and shapes. The smallest plant is only a few centimeters tall, cushion shaped and close to the ground.
高达数丈，巍然挺立，蔚为壮观。杜鹃花分落叶和常绿两大类。落叶类叶小，常绿类叶片硕大。多生长在海拔１０００－1400米的山坡、高山草甸、林缘、石壁和沼泽地。
As high as several feet, it stands tall and magnificent. Rhododendron is divided into two categories: deciduous and evergreen. Deciduous leaves are small and evergreen leaves are large. Most of them grow on hillsides, alpine meadows, forest margins, stone walls and swamps with an altitude of 1000-1400 meters.
